How to set up for success

I think we fall into two camps here – people who LOVE planning, and people who LOATHE it, which are you?

Either way, planning works, even just a skeleton plan for your week.

Life will absolutely get in the way, and that’s fine, life happens, but for the wonderfully boring weeks when everything goes to plan, here’s some key planning tips to set yourself up for success:

  • Add your working hours to your diary
  • Add in any family commitments
  • Write down your meals, keep it easy with a choice of 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 snacks that hit your fruit veg and protein which leaves more flexibility for dinner
  • Block out 3 x 20 minute blocks for workouts in your diary (commit to making these happen!)
  • Block out some time each day to get steps in, try combining with something else – the school run, a work call, popping to the shops, and always have a great podcast saved to listen to
  • Write down 1 thing you are going to do for YOU; coffee shop with a book, a bath and a glass of wine, just 30 mins during the week for you to de-stress and have some you-time

My top tip for when it all goes wrong… take 5 minutes to re-plan your day, children get ill, work meetings get cancelled, the Sainsbury delivery has half the things for dinner missing… deep breath, re-plan, this doesn’t need to ruin your day, it’s just time for plan B.
